Observing the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Lithuania - October 11-14, 2024.

Members of the State Electoral Commission of the Republic of Croatia, Ivana Ljulj Cvitanić and Slaven Hojski, visited Lithuania as international observers on parliamentary elections that were held on October, 13 2024.

The elections were also observed by representatives of Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine and South Korea, as well as an IFES representative.

The day before elections, a meeting was organized with the president and members of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Lithuania, whereby participants were introduced to the electoral system in the Republic of Lithuania in detail (parliamentary elections are held in two rounds), the network of polling stations, as well as all the voting options in the week before elections and on the election day.

On the election day, observers visited some polling stations, where, in addition to voting itself and the appearance of the ballot paper, the method of voter registration on the polling station was presented.

The assessment of all international observers is that the elections were conducted properly in accordance with the highest democratic standards.

During their stay in Lithuania, SEC members also visited Croatian Embassy in Vilnius, where three employees work, led by Mr. Ivan Jerzečić, Minister Counsellor and chargé d'affaires.

Mr. Jerzečić introduced the overall media coverage of the Lithuanian parliamentary elections and the relations between political parties in this electoral contest. It was also emphasized that the Croatian community in Lithuania is rather small.
